Richard S. Isaacs, MD, FACS, is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Question. He is a nationally recognized physician executive, academic leader, and board-certified head and neck surgeon with extensive experience in medical education, healthcare innovation, and organizational leadership.
Dr. Isaacs most recently served as Dean, Professor of Otolaryngology, Chief Academic Officer, and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at California Northstate University, where he helped guide the College of Medicine to full LCME accreditation in June 2025. Previously, he served as Chief Executive Officer of The Permanente Medical Group and The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, leading approximately 12,000 physicians and 45,000 healthcare professionals serving more than 5.4 million members.
His editorial vision emphasizes scientific rigor, clinically meaningful research, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the translation of evidence into improved patient care.
